New Dext research surveyed 400+ Australian accountants and bookkeepers: 60% rank heavy workloads among their top-three challenges, and 43% are struggling to hire and retain staff. The bright spot — nearly half say AI tools are already easing that pressure. The more repetitive admin gets automated, the more time firms get back for advisory work that actually helps clients.
