ATO's TPAR pre-fill is live — but timing your lodgment matters

Contractor in construction, cleaning, IT or courier services? Don't lodge just yet.
The ATO's Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR) data is now pre-filling automatically into contractor tax returns — part of a broader push to make small business tax as simple as an individual return. The catch: the ATO is advising contractors to hold off lodging until after 28 August, so the pre-fill data has time to fully populate and match against what's been reported. A timely reminder for any client who wants to lodge early — patience now avoids a flagged return later.
